What is numerology?
Numerology, classified as one of the occult or divinatory arts, is said to be extremely easy to use and understand. Numerology defined is the belief that there is a mystical connection between numbers and living beings and/or physical objects.
What is numerology for?
The use of numerology is said to reveal the secrets of a person's inner self. For instance, Pythagoras, a Greek mathematician in the 6th century BC, devised a system of numerology that would reveal and define an individual's personality traits and predispositions by figuring numbers that correlate with that person's full name and date of birth. His system of numerology was, of course, called the Pythagorean System.
How does numerology work?
There are four sets of core numbers in numerology; life path, destiny, soul urge, and inner dreams.
The life path number is the sum of an individual's date of birth. This number represents the person you are and reveals the traits you will carry with you throughout your life. The life path number can help you make decisions along life's journey. Your life path number is the foundation for everything else you learn about yourself using numerology. The way to arrive at your life path number is to add the numbers of your date of birth using the mm/dd/yyyy format. Keep adding the digits together until you arrive at a single number. The traits, both positive and negative that correspond with your life path number are the ones that you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
A supplement to the life path number is the birthday number, this number is a modifier of sorts of the life path number. The traits that correspond with the day of your birth make you unique.
Destiny numbers, sometimes called the expression number, is derived from your full birth name. Using the digits 1 through 9, a numerologist will add up the numbers that match the letters in your full name until there is only one digit left. Again there are certain traits that line up with the destiny numbers. Proponents of numerology believe that this number reveals your potential, what you can become and the things you must accomplish during your lifetime according to the name you were given at birth.
Soul urge numbers represent your heart's desires, those secret things that you may not want or allow yourself to reveal to anyone else. The soul urge number is the sum of the vowels in your full name.
The last of the core numbers is the inner dream number. This is the sum of the consonants in your full name. This symbolizes the underlying traits of a person's personality. These are usually the traits that people see upon meeting that individual, the first impression.
By revealing the hidden personality of and individual, numerologist is able to help their client's recognize key moments in their lives, and help them make better life decisions.
