Colonics

What is colonic irrigation and how will it help me?

In its various form colonic irrigation has been practiced since ancient times to improve the health of the bowel and of the entire body. As long ago as 1000 years BC, the Ancient Egyptians recorded the use of colon hydrotherapy with various herbal recipes to treat constipation, fatigue, body odour and other complaints.

Colon cleansing dramatically improves the healthy function of the bowel in absorbing nutrients, aids in peristaltic action and provides a range of other benefits including the prevention of constipation, bad breath, body odour and abdominal distension or bloating. It improves skin condition and boosts energy levels. What’s not to like?

How is it done?

Colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonics or colonic irrigation differs slightly from the normal enema or colema. Enemas and colemas are done at home using a bucket and can help to flush the lower part of the bowel and get rid of constipation, while colonics performed by a professional consists of many flushes during one treatment period and gives the colon a much more thorough cleaning.

The therapist will insert a speculum and then a length of tubing into the bowel and purified water will be gently pumped into the colon. Flushes will occur in time with natural bowel contractions and the process repeated over and over until the colon is clean. Sometimes oxygen or other herbal remedies are added to the water, some people even like to use coffee for a real pick me up.

Excuse me? You want to put what? Where?...

If the thought of colon hydrotherapy the traditional way sends you into a cold sweat, there are now some less invasive and just as effective preparations you can take in conjunction with a specific cleansing program. With these programs a special formula of detoxifying natural products are ingested during a liquid fasting period which draw the compacted toxins and gunk out and flush it away. If you don’t care for fasting then the best way to clear the pipes is to have a colonic treatment which usually lasts about 45 minutes, and is done gently by a skilled professional using singly use only tubing.

I just don’t believe I could have all this junk in my colon and not know it...

Even if your bowel movements are very regular, the average person has 5-8 pounds of matter lining their colon, and no this doesn’t include the gunk that is regularly ejected, we’re talking a hard, stagnant and often rubbery lining. This matter can include dead cells, impacted faeces, mucous, parasites and worms and because it is stagnant it can putrefy, giving off toxins that are then absorbed back into the body. Not only do we not need excess toxins to be manufactured in our own bodies, but this rubbery lining also pre vents the good stuff from getting through into the bloodstream. Just think how much easier the nutrients you eat will be absorbed with that gone, not to mention how much lighter you will feel, and literally be, if you get rid of it. If you need proof then just do a simple search for colon cleansing on the internet and you will find some delightful photos of what comes out when people either have this procedure, or follow a colon cleansing program.

A word of warning.

Some people should not have colon hydrotherapy. These include people with poor kidney function, haemorrhoids, bowel tumours, or anybody who for whatever reason may have a weakened bowel that is conducive to perforation.
