Crystal Deodorant

Huh? Crystals and Deodorants? I Don’t Get it…

Welcome to nature performing miracles on a small scale. Crystal deodorants are literally what they claim to be. The roll-on variety is a solid crystal chunk (smooth, not shards of crystal that will grate your armpit), while the crystal mist varieties are crystal solutions that are sprayed under the arms, on your feet, wherever you feel you need to freshen up. Both varieties of crystal deodorant are made from crystallized mineral salts that kill bacteria on the surface of the skin. It’s the bacteria that has the bad breath by the way, not your actual armpit, so voila! Dead bacteria equals a smell free zone. Genius!

It’s Pretty Pricey. Why not just use Anti-Perspirants

Anti-perspirants might as well be called ‘cancer-in-a-can’ for all the good they do to your body. They contain aluminium chlorohydrate or aluminium chlorohydroxide, which function to clog your skin’s pores so that it effectively can’t breath. Granted, this stops you from smelling in the short term, but at what cost? If your skin can’t breathe the toxins are getting trapped inside! Not to mention the fact that anti-perspirants are full of toxins themselves. Use of underarm anti-perspirant deodorant has recently been linked to breast cancer in a range of studies. Seriously, consider losing your old cans of the stuff now.

It Has No Smell. I Want to Smell Good.

Crystal deodorants do not have any odour. Which means you can get creative by applying drops of essential oils to your hairbrush and brushing your hair, showering with scented shower oils, or using natural perfumes to make yourself smell appealing.

I’m Sweating! I’m Sweating

Yes of course you’re sweating. Sweat is the natural way we regulate our body temperature and expel toxins from our system. If you’ve been using anti-perspirant deodorants for some time, consider the pores under your arm to be completely blocked. In response to this, your body has been attempting to produce more sweat to counteract the blockage, and there’s only one place for this sweat to go when the blockage is removed. If you’ve just stopped using anti-perspirants expect an influx of sweat for about a week or two while your body normalizes sweat production and breathes a sigh of relief.

Crystal deodorants won’t stop you sweating. Get used to it. It’s unknown why so many societal ‘norms’ have been developed against the grain of our natural body functioning, but sweat is as natural as breathing. Since your sweat won’t smell because the whole bacteria problem is fixed with the crystal deodorant, the only thing you’ll have to get used to is being moist under the arms instead of dry and scratchy. At least you’ll know your body is functioning as it’s intended to. You’d be worried if your nose couldn’t smell right? Same goes for an armpit that couldn’t sweat. But it’s history now because you’ve just discovered crystal deodorants.
